Azomures announces project start – Increasing the energy efficiency of electrical motors within the Azomureș plant

Azomures will carry out the project between 12 January and 15 December 2021 – Increasing the energy efficiency of engines under the Azomures plan for energy efficiency and climate change – SMIS code: RO-ENERGY-0022, supported by a grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, through EEA GRANT Norway 2014-2021, within the Innovation Norway program, the value of the grant being 601,000 Euro.

The main objectives of the project are to reduce energy consumption of large electrical motors in number of production plants at Azomures (NPK, Ammonium Nitrate 2, Ammonium Nitrate 3 and Ammonia 3). The reduction in electricity will be close to 7.000 MW/year, and the carbon footprint will be significantly reduced.

“It is a project for the first time for Azomures, by attracting external funds. It completes our targets to reduce Greenhouse gas emissions to achieve the European Union Green Deal targets of 55 % reduction of GHG by 2030. Azomures has already reduced its emissions by 50 % and is on the way to reach 55 % target in coming years. It is an important investment for Targu Mureș and the execution tender is open to all interested companies, respecting the conditions in the documentation“, said Harri Kiiski, general manager of Azomures.

For those interested, the tender documentation can be downloaded from beneficiar.fonduri-ue.ro and the offers can be submitted at the Azomures headquarter, Gheorghe Doja no. 300, Targu-Mures until 05.02.2021.
